Why Great Leaders Make Time to Rest: My Conversation on The Dream Lifestyle Podcast

I was recently featured on episode 161 of The Dream Lifestyle Podcast, and we talked about something most leaders know they need but rarely protect: rest.

I'm a business owner, a nurse practitioner, an author, a wife, and a mom of three. I know how easy it is to keep pushing because the work feels too important to pause. But I've also seen what happens when leaders ignore their bodies. They burn out, get sick, or stop short of what God called them to build.

In this episode, I shared my journey of building WellSpot and writing Where Faith Meets Medicine, and what I learned about obedience and faith along the way. Then we got practical:

  • Why every leader needs a Sabbath

  • Building in daily, weekly, and quarterly pauses

  • Why Jesus withdrew to rest, and what that models for us

  • Creating healthy rhythms in your marriage

  • What to do when you feel too busy to rest

  • Why your body was designed to heal, and why your health is part of your calling

  • The real cost of building the life you're called to live

Rest isn't a reward you earn after the work is done. It's what keeps you healthy enough to do the work at all.
